An aerial view of Jerusalem

If you plan to visit Israel in the near future, there are several must-see sites that offer excellent people watching opportunities. At Christian Holy Land Travel, we’re proud to offer specialized Christian tours to Israel for churches and large groups of people. During your Holy Land trip with Christian Holy Land Travel, we’ll stop at some of the most renowned Biblical sites so that you can get a glimpse of the world through Jesus’s eyes while enjoying many of the sites and sounds of Jerusalem.

In today’s post, we’ll discuss three of the best people watching spots in Jerusalem where you can enjoy the diverse population of one of the most interesting cities in the world.

The Western Wall

The Western Wall is located in the Old City of Jerusalem at the foot of the Temple Mount. As one of the most sacred sites in Judaism, it has been known as a location for Jewish prayer and pilgrimage for centuries. The earliest mention of the Western Wall dates all the way back to the 4th century. It offers a great plaza for visitors to sit and soak up the history of Jerusalem, and it’s accessible from several different areas within the Old City.

Zion Square

Zion Square, also known as Kikar Tzion, is the bustling economic and cultural city of west Jerusalem. The square is filled with visitors from near and far during all hours of the day, showcasing a unique and broad selection of Jerusalem life. When you visit Zion Square, you are likely to see sullen teenagers, bearded mystics and various holy men wandering the streets. This area is also known to host several street festivals and political rallies, so you’re sure to find something exciting going on during your visit. If you need assistance planning your pilgrimage to the Holy Land, contact the travel experts at Christian Holy Land Travel. We employ local, all-Christian tour guides and bus drivers on every tour to answer all of your burning questions.

Jaffa Gate

The Jaffa Gate is a unique stone portal in the historic walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. It is one of the eight gates in Jerusalem’s Old City Walls. Similar to the stones used in most of the Old City walls, the stones at the Jaffa Gate are large sand-colored blocks. As the only gate positioned at a right angle to the wall, it was likely built as a defensive measure to slow down incoming attackers. When you visit the Jaffa Gate, you’ll be able to absorb the cultural and religious sites and sounds of Jerusalem as if you were alive during the time of Jesus.
